Maria Macarena Castellón, MS, LAPC, NCC
Licensed Associate Professional Counselor
National Certified Counselor
Maria Castellon received a Master of Science in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Commonwealth University (Lock Haven). She is a Pennsylvania Licensed Associate Professional Counselor and National Certified Counselor (NCC).
Maria has a special interest in pursuing trauma-informed therapeutic approaches, and has worked with clients 9-70 with the following diagnoses: depression, anxiety, OCD, bipolar disorder, borderline personality disorder, ADHD, and autism spectrum disorder (ASD). She strongly believes in operating with integrity and compassion in the therapeutic setting, and that all people possess a unique set of strengths and talents that they may call upon while facing challenges in life.
In a session with Maria, one can expect a person-centered and supportive approach, along with some aspects of cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT) and motivational
interviewing. Her style is somewhat conversational and favors the use of thought-provoking questions to facilitate self-realization in clients. In challenging our thought processes so as to promote positive changes, we may foster a greater sense of strength and resilience to face adversity, and emerge with a greater understanding of who we are. Maria is currently accepting clients in the
individual or couples setting, for telehealth and/or in-person at FWCC’s Warrendale/Cranberry location.
