Brittany Chalmers, BS, RYT® 200

Counselor Intern
Brittany is a graduate student in the Master of Science in Clinical Mental Health Counseling program at the University of Pittsburgh. She received dual Bachelor of Science degrees in Psychology and Natural Sciences from the University of Pittsburgh in 2021. Brittany is also a Registered Yoga Teacher with Yoga Alliance, having completed her 200 hour teacher training.

Brittany is dedicated to helping clients find personal growth, meaning, and resilience by exploring their strengths, values, goals, and challenging experiences. She is passionate about the opportunity to hold space for clients to process their experiences, share their stories, and build a space where they can express their authentic selves.

Brittany’s approach to counseling is holistic & integrative. She includes elements from humanistic, cognitive, and mindfulness-based therapies. Additionally, she has experience with utilizing concepts of cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT), and motivational interviewing (MI). Brittany also prioritizes a therapeutic approach that is LGBTQIA+-affirming and person-centered.
Brittany primarily has experience working with adults and adolescents from diverse backgrounds with depression, anxiety, disordered eating, relationship issues, and life transitions.

Gunnar Newton, BA

Counselor Intern
Gunnar is a graduate student in the Master of Science in Clinical Mental Health Counseling program at the University of Pittsburgh. He earned his bachelor’s degree in psychology from Bloomsburg University in 2023 and served four years of active duty in the United States Navy.
Gunnar takes a collaborative and evidence-based approach to therapy, incorporating techniques such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and Motivational Interviewing (MI) to meet clients where they are and support their journey toward achieving their goals.
He is passionate about creating a safe and supportive space where clients can process challenges, share their stories, and connect with their authentic selves. Guided by compassion and curiosity, Gunnar works with clients to navigate life’s complexities, empowering them to discover their strengths, values, and resilience. Drawing on his military experience, clinical expertise, and genuine empathy, Gunnar is committed to helping clients foster personal growth and thrive.​

Scotlynne Fennell, BS, CYT 500
Indiana University of Pennsylvania
Counselor Intern
Scotlynne is a graduate student at Indiana University of Pennsylvania in the Clinical Mental Health Counseling, MA program. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Psychology from the University of Pittsburgh in 2023. Scotlynne is also a 500 hour Certified Yoga Teacher (CYT) with a specialization in Holistic Yoga Psychology. She draws from her education as well as her years of experience as a yoga and meditation instructor to offer a holistic approach to counseling that invites clients to connect mind, body, and spirit as they work toward healing and growth.
Scotlynne came into this field with the intention of helping humans be human. She understands that suffering is an inherent part of the human experience, and she views her role as a guide in finding meaning through adversity and fostering personal growth. Scotlynne believes that clients are the experts on their own lives, and she views the counseling relationship as a collaborative partnership. In this space, she strives to create a warm and supportive environment where clients feel heard, understood, and empowered to explore their unique experiences.
With a foundation in Humanistic-Existential Therapy (HET), Scotlynne emphasizes the importance of freedom, authenticity, and the search for meaning, which she supplements with evidence-based Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) to help clients develop psychological flexibility and align their actions with their values. Scotlynne tailors her client-centered approach to meet the unique needs of each client.

Rose Clippinger, BS

Rose is a passionate and dedicated counseling intern currently pursuing master’s degree in clinical Mental Health Counseling at Walden University. With a strong foundation in active listening, empathy, and mental health awareness, Rose is committed to helping individuals navigate life's challenges and discover their inner strengths.

As a counselor intern, Rose has gained valuable experience working with a diverse range of clients, including individuals facing anxiety, depression, relationship struggles, and life transitions. She utilizes a client-centered approach, integrating evidence-based therapeutic techniques such as cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT) and mindfulness strategies, while always prioritizing the unique needs and goals of each client. Ultimately, Rose believes in empowering individuals to take an active role in their therapeutic journey.

Through ongoing supervision and professional development, Rose strives to further enhance clinical skills, cultural competence, and ethical practice. She is eager to continue developing her skills as a counselor and looks forward to empowering clients to make positive, lasting changes in their lives.
