James Barum, LSW
Partially Trained EMDR Therapist
Licensed Social Worker
James is a Pennsylvania state-licensed social worker who earned a Master of Social Work degree from the University of Pittsburgh in 2015. He has spent over 7 years in the human services field where he has learned the value of addressing difficult issues head on and gained the conviction that there is nothing wrong with us that cannot be cured by what is right with us.

James has experience working in hospital, outpatient, and correctional settings and believes in "holding space" for adults 18+ from any walk of life. He specializes in working with mood disorders, trauma, drug & alcohol use, grief/loss, co-dependency, low self-esteem, life transitions (going to college, changing jobs, etc.), spiritual/religious concerns, and the general sense that "something ain't right" with one's life.

James is eclectic in his approach to treatment and utilizes approaches from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance & Commitment Therapy (ACT), Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Motivational Interviewing, Twelve-Step Facilitation (TSF), and an overall "harm reduction" approach to dealing with challenges.
